Hope for Homeowners

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Chicago home-owners can breathe a little easier now, as more programs helping to aid with the foreclosure process have been released. Many were grateful after the federal housing bill was passed, relieving home-owners of expensive loans in order to find something that was more affordable for them. There were five different programs established for the Chicago-area, each supposedly to help with the foreclosure process. FHASecure is a program that allows people with good credit to refinance with a FHA loan. Anyone who has missed a mortgage payment does not qualify for the program, but people with poor credit are still eligible. The Homeowner’s Assistance Initiative is basically the state’s program for providing people with refinances within Illinois. Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago is a non-profit organization where home-owners work with a counselor to figure out if they qualify for a refinance loan. Hope Now is a counseling service that provides help for troubled home-owners who are finding they are having problems paying their mortgage payments. NACA Home Save is another non-profit organization where owners meet with their lenders to set up a new payment plan that is realistic and reasonable for both parties. All of these programs are to help homeowners of Chicago find an easier way to take care of their foreclosure worries.
